American actress Jennifer Leann Carpenter is a December 7, 1979, native. She is famous for her role as Debra Morgan in the Showtime series Dexter and for which she was awarded an Saturn Award in 2009, and also for playing Rebecca Harris in the CBS television show Limitless. In 2019, she began as Erica Shepherd (the lead role on the NBC drama The Enemy Within). Carpenter's role in The Exorcism of Emily Rose was the most talked about. Carpenter was awarded the 2006 MTV Movie Award "Best Frightened Performance" and an Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award. She was also named Breakout Performer during the 2006 Scream Awards. In 2007, she began dating her Dexter co-star Michael C. Hall. They got married in 2008 after which they relocated to California. Hall and Carpenter released a December 2010 statement announcing they had declared divorce following having been separated for "for some time". The divorce was finalized in December 2011 due to unresolved disagreements. However they remain close friends. Carpenter and Seth Avett, musician, were announced to be engaged and expecting their first baby on February 10, 2015. The news was announced in August 2015 that Carpenter gave birth to a boy in May of 2015. Carpenter also admitted she was eight and one-half months pregnant at the time of filming Limitless' pilot episode. Carpenter and Avett were married in May of 2016.
