Rita Ora Bio

Rita Ora (British singer-songwriter) is her name. She was born Rita Sahatciu Ora in 1990 in Pristina, Kosovo, to Vera (Bajraktari) and Besnik Sahatciu. Besim Sahatciu is her granddaughter. Her family moved to the United Kingdom at age 1. She was born in West London, attended St Cuthbert with St Matthias CE Primary School in Earls Court and graduated from Sylvia Young Theatre School. She started singing when she was a teenager. In 2004, she appeared in the British film Spivs. She was a contestant on Eurovision The Country That is in need of You on BBC One to be the British contestant in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest however, she later pulled out of the contest after a few episodes as she was not sure she was ready. Ora released her first single in 2007, when she appeared in Craig David's track "Awkward" which was followed by a follow-up appearance in 2008 on "Where’s Your Love" featuring TinchyStryder. Ora started singing in bars throughout London. Roc Nation was informed by an A&R about Ora in the year 2009 just a few days after Ora was on her way to New York and met Jay-Z. Ora appeared in Jay-Z's 2009 music video for "Young Forever" as well as "Over" by Drake. Jay-Z saw Ora and shrewdly signed her up to Roc Nation. She was included in a commercial starring Skullcandy Aviator Headphones. Her father Besnik was a pub owner and she started singing in the same pub. Gwen Stefani is a major influence on her personality. She also cites her father Besnik, who was a pub's owner. Kate Moss and Ed Sheeran are friends.
